Privacy Policy
Effective: June 14, 2026
Your privacy matters to us. This privacy policy explains how Hillchart (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our website, application, shared snapshot pages, APIs, or otherwise interact with us.
If you do not agree with this privacy policy, do not access or use our services.
Information we collect
We collect information about you when you provide it to us, when you use Hillchart, and from service providers that help us operate the product.
- Account information — email address, display name, password (stored securely by our authentication provider), profile preferences such as theme, language, and plan settings.
- Project data — projects, epics, scopes, team members, snapshots, comments, share links, webhooks, and API tokens you create or configure in the app.
- Usage information — actions you take in the app (for example moving scopes, saving snapshots), basic device and browser data, and diagnostic logs needed to keep the service reliable.
- Communications — emails you submit to our waitlist or product-update forms, and messages you send when requesting support or giving feedback.
- Payment information — if you subscribe to a paid plan, billing details are processed by our payment provider. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers.
How we use information
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve Hillchart.
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Sync and store your project data across devices.
- Generate and host shareable snapshot pages and embeds you choose to publish.
- Send service-related messages, such as account or security notices.
- Respond to support requests and product feedback.
- Analyze aggregated usage to fix bugs and improve features.
- Comply with law and enforce our terms.
Public sharing and snapshots
Hillchart lets you create public, view-only links to project snapshots. Content in a shared snapshot — including scope names, progress, descriptions, assignees, and summary text — may be accessible to anyone who has the link.
Please review what you include before sharing. You can stop sharing by deleting or replacing the relevant snapshot in your account.
How we store and secure information
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data is hosted with reputable cloud infrastructure providers. Access to production systems is restricted to people who need it to operate the service.
How long we keep information
We retain your account and project data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service.
If you delete your account or specific content, we delete or anonymize it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain information to comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or maintain backups for a limited time.
Your rights and choices
- Access and update profile information from your account settings.
- Export or manage project data through the app and APIs available on your plan.
- Delete your account or request deletion of personal information by contacting us.
- Opt out of non-essential marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages.
- If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Children
Hillchart is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
International transfers
We may process and store information in countries other than where you live. When we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps designed to protect it in line with applicable law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page and update the effective date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice within the app or by email.
Your continued use of Hillchart after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
